50/50 (Rated R)

Indie dramedy "50/50" is a movie about a Friendship that is tested when one is diagnosed with Cancer.

We watch the story of a young man, named Adam, who just learned he has a rare cancer involving the spinal column and watch on how his life changes.

The loss of his girlfriend, an already under stressed mother, who is handling her husband’s Alzheimer’s disease tries to connect with her son, and her Friendship with his best Friend Kyle and a new relationship with a therapist and fellow Cancer patients.

As you watch you believe Kyle is only interested in the fact that he can use his Friends ‘Cancer’ as a hook to get women and use municipal marijuana.  Near the end we see that’s not completely true.  Hint:  Book.

If you don’t cry at least once, especially right before the risky surgery happens and everyone is saying ‘you’ll be okay’ lines then you have no crying abilities.

Will he survive the surgery?  No spoils here!

I would have given this real life story 5 out of 5 stars, but we never got to peek at the additional stress of how he was exactly going to pay for all his treatments or how his work was effected by his Cancer.  So it only gets a 4 ½ stars.
