How To Lose A Guy In 10 Day (PG-13)

Matthew McConaughey plays an ad man who wants to extend his field from all “men jock ads” into the field of “women softer ads” and Kate Hudson plays a woman whose stuck in a women’s magazine little column and wants to write more than “girly” stuff, but serious news articles.

Andie (played by Kate) latest assignment is called “How to Lose A Guy In 10 Days” where she would hook-up and then make him break up with her within the 10 days after she makes all the “relationship mistakes” in their dating.

Ben (played by Matthew) proves to his latest client that he can promote women ads by wooing and making a woman fall in love with him with 10 days.

They connect-and the games begin.  Now this movie isn’t men verses women because the differences are sometimes so settle that you don’t have to spend time making a big production about them.

You feel like you’re on both sides and your just enjoying the show on how they seem to play off each other.  Andie wants to toss off Ben and Ben is taking everything she can throw at him with such grace that its surprising that he lasted so long when most men would have dropped her at day 5.

If you want to see Kate Hudson look more than ever as her mother-in the voice and action (almost to the point of when she does silly stuff—your watching a rerun of the TV show “Laugh In”) then this is the movie.

The Negative-In one scene the word BS (fully said) is said like 20 times.  If your teen have heard this word before then it shouldn’t be a problem to watch it with them.  The way the word is used is as funny as “fart humor” is to a man.

The Positive-There is no gritty love scene.

The Funniest-When Ben (Matthew) uses the old line “I got to go into work”, but is offered to go somewhere with Andie (Kate) that he thinks is where he wants to go and you find out where they really went…well, if you didn’t catch yourself smiling, laughing, snickering, or peeing your pants then rewind and watch the scene again.

Results:  I give this movie 5 star and should be included in your collection of nice, feel-good movies (not necessary chick flick), which you can watch with basically anyone and everyone
